( Construction Notes ) The Queen has a very minor role in the second Katamari video game, but her character and dress is so cute! Deciding to cosplay her was an easy decision to make, although I wasn't interested in making her exact outfit so I designed a 'girlyfied' version. Instead of her original long skirt and sleeves, I went with a shorter round skirt version (a la Space Channel 5) and puffed sleeves. I used pink and white polyester poplin for the dress, welting and metal boning in the skirt hem, and foamy and styrofoam for the headpiece. As a finishing touch, I added a bunch of rhinestones to give the costume a bit of sparkle and a hot pink plastic bounce ball as my own 'Katamari'.
